Seit Tagen liegt ein Sturmtief im Westen von Norwegen, das uns arktische Kaltluft beschert und Winde zwischen f\u00fcnf und sechs Beaufort. Inzwischen ist es Richtung D\u00e4nemark weitergezogen und verliert langsam an Kraft. Nach drei ruhigen Tagen auf Texel wollen wir morgen nach Vlieland aufbrechen, es ist noch immer sehr kalt.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

For days, there has been a low-pressure system to the west of Norway, bringing us Arctic cold air and winds between five and six Beaufort. In the mean-time, it has moved on towards Denmark and is slowly losing strength. Am Sonntag machen wir nicht viel, ein bisschen pflegen und einen ausgedehnten Spaziergang um den kleinen Ort Oudeschild. Am Abend regnet es und wir gehen in das Marina-Restaurant auf ein Abendessen. Morgen wollen wir uns R\u00e4der ausborgen und die weitere Insel erkunden. Bei einer L\u00e4nge von nur 20 km ist das Rad das ideale Transportmittel.<\/p>

Sofern es nicht regnet und st\u00fcrmt! Bei 7\u00b0 C und fast 50 km\/h Wind und guten Chancen auf gelegentliche Regenschauer sieht die Sache allerdings anders aus. Daher beschlie\u00dfen wir, die einzige Autovermietung der Insel zu kontaktieren und bekommen einen 9-Personenbus zu einem g\u00fcnstigen Preis. On Sunday we don’t do much, a bit of grooming and a long walk around the small town of Oudeschild. In the evening it rains and we go to the marina restaurant for dinner. Tomorrow we want to borrow bikes and explore the rest of the island. With a length of only 20 km, the bike is the ideal means of transport.<\/p>

As long as it doesn’t rain and storm! However, with 7\u00b0 C and almost 50 km\/h wind and good chances of occasional rain showers, things look different. Therefore, we decide to contact the only car rental on the island and get a 9-passenger bus at a reasonable price. In den D\u00fcnen von De Slufter, wo wir Seev\u00f6gel, G\u00e4nse und verwilderte Pferde beobachten, machen wir eine l\u00e4ngere Wanderung. Nachdem wir bei unserem ersten Besuch der D\u00fcnen von Texel bei De Koog vom Regen nass geworden sind, haben wir diesmal Gl\u00fcck – es gab nur ein paar kurze Spritzer, die uns nicht weiter gest\u00f6rt haben.<\/p>

Nach der Wanderung fahren wir ganz nach Norden zum Leuchtturm von Texel, der ein Wahrzeichen der Insel und auch im Logo der hervorragenden Inselbrauerei abgebildet ist. Wir steigen zur Aussichtsplattform im sechsten Stock auf und sind beeindruckt.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In the dunes of De Slufter, where we observe seabirds, geese and feral horses, we go for a longer hike. After getting wet from the rain on our first visit to the dunes of Texel at De Koog, we are lucky this time – there were only a few short splashes, which didn’t bother us much.<\/p>

After the hike, we drive all the way north to the Texel lighthouse, which is a landmark of the island and also featured in the logo of the excellent island brewery. We climb up to the sixth-floor viewing platform and are impressed.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Nach dem Besuch des Leuchtturms fahren wir ganz in den S\u00fcden der Insel, um einen Bunker aus dem Zweiten Weltkrieg zu besichtigen. In der „Mondlandschaft“ der D\u00fcnen unter dem d\u00fcsteren st\u00fcrmischen Himmel ist dieses Kriegsrelikt besonders gespenstisch anzusehen.<\/p>

Am Abend bekommen wir von Hanna k\u00f6stliche Spaghetti Bolognese serviert!<\/p>

Heute kaufen wir ein paar notwendige Dinge ein. Zum Beispiel hat sich die neue 8 mm starke Genua-Reffleine doch als zu schwach erwiesen, in den heftigen B\u00f6en am ersten Tag konnten wir das Segel kaum bergen. Auch besorgen wir warme Sachen f\u00fcr die n\u00e4chsten Tage, bei unter 10\u00b0 und 20 Knoten Wind brauchen wir noch mehr Schutz vor der K\u00e4lte, wenn wir \u00fcber sieben Stunden am Segeln sind. Der Nachmittag verabschiedet sich dann noch mit einem Hagelschauer und einem pr\u00e4chtigen Regenbogen.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

After visiting the lighthouse, we drive to the very south of the island to visit a World War II bunker. In the „moonscape“ of the dunes under the gloomy stormy sky, this war relic is particularly eerie to look at.<\/p>\n

In the evening we are served delicious spaghetti bolognese by Hanna!<\/p>\n

Today we buy a few necessary things. For example, the new 8 mm strong genoa reefing line proved to be too weak, in the heavy gusts on the first day we could hardly recover the sail. We also get warm clothes for the next few days, at below 10\u00b0 and 20 knots of wind we need even more protection from the cold when we are sailing for over seven hours. Beinahe h\u00e4tte ich es vergessen: Heute habe ich vielleicht einem Schaf das Leben gerettet. <\/p>

Und das kam so: Vor ein paar Tagen hat uns Matthias erz\u00e4hlt, dass die hochgez\u00fcchteten Wollschafe selbst nicht mehr aufstehen k\u00f6nnen, wenn sie einmal auf den R\u00fccken gefallen sind. Wenn sie niemand wieder auf die Beine stellt, m\u00fcssen sie verenden. Als Hanna und ich heute vom Einkaufen in die Marina zur\u00fcckkommen, meint sie: „Schau, da oben liegt ein Schaf auf dem R\u00fccken!“ Tats\u00e4chlich! Auf der Deichkrone liegt ein Schaf, die Beine in den Himmel gereckt und darum herum stehen die anderen Tiere und schauen zu. Also steige ich \u00fcber den Zaun und gehe auf das Schaf zu, das mich bl\u00f6de anglotzt, aber offensichtlich zur Flucht nicht in der Lage ist. Ich greife in die dichte Wolle am R\u00fccken und wuchte das Schaf mit Schwung zur Seite. Sofort springt es auf die Beine und\u00a0 l\u00e4uft davon.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I almost forgot: Today I may have saved a sheep’s life.<\/p>

And it came about like this: A few days ago, Matthias told us that the highly bred wool sheep themselves cannot get up again once they have fallen on their backs. If no one puts them back on their feet, they have to perish. Today, when Hanna and I come back from shopping in the marina, she says, „Look, there’s a sheep lying on its back up there!“ Indeed! There is a sheep lying on the top of the dyke, its legs stretched up to the sky, and all around it the other animals are standing and watching. In an instant, I climb over the fence and walk towards the sheep, which is staring stupidly at me but obviously unable to escape. I reach into the dense wool on its back and heave the sheep to the side with momentum. Immediately, it jumps to its feet and runs away.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
