Am Beginn stand bei mir die Diagnose: Vorhofflimmern, die bis heute meine Entscheidungen beeinflusst. Dann kam nat\u00fcrlich die lang herbeigesehnte Pensionierung. Im Herbst musste ich mich dann intensiv um meine 92-j\u00e4hrige Mutter k\u00fcmmern.

At the beginning, I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, which still influences my decisions today. Then, of course, came the long-awaited retirement. In the autumn, I had to take intensive care of my 92-year-old mother.<\/p>

I travelled to Lelystad and back a total of four times last year and spent about four months living on board, mainly working. But did we sail at all in 2024?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Die Arbeiten an Bord habe ich in den letzten Beitr\u00e4gen schon recht ausf\u00fchrlich geschildert und die Pl\u00e4ne f\u00fcr das Fr\u00fchjahr wurden auch schon er\u00f6rtert. Wor\u00fcber ich noch nicht erz\u00e4hlt habe, sind die etwas \u00fcber 14 Tage, die wir im letzten Sommer tats\u00e4chlich segelnd unterwegs waren. Da es in der Zeit insgesamt 2 Crewwechsel gab, sind wir nicht sonderlich weit herumgekommen, aber es war ausnahmsweise einmal nicht eiskalt an Bord und wir hatten ein paar wunderbare Segeltage am IJsselmeer und entlang der friesischen Kan\u00e4le.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I have already described the work on board in some detail in the last few posts, and the plans for the spring have also already been discussed. What I haven’t talked about yet are the 14 days or so that we actually spent sailing last summer. As there were two crew changes during that time, we didn’t get very far, but for once it wasn’t freezing cold on board, and we had some wonderful sailing days on the IJsselmeer and along the Frisian canals.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Matthias und ich kommen Anfang Juli nach Lelystad und bringen zun\u00e4chst die pepperbird ins Wasser. Der Mast ist wieder gestellt, die neuen Leuchten eingebaut und der Radarreflektor montiert (wenn auch nicht exakt dort, wo ich ihn haben wollte).<\/p>

Der K\u00fchlschrank funktioniert, die Gasanschl\u00fcsse wurden ja Mitte Mai noch professionell \u00fcberpr\u00fcft. Freddy in Attnang hat uns die Verl\u00e4ngerung der Ankerrolle gebaut und deshalb wollen wir nun endlich den neuen Anker, die Ankerwinde und die dritte Klampe am Vorschiff montieren. Dazu muss auch der Ketteneinlass verlegt werden. Der Kettenkasten muss noch eine neue Drainage bekommen, weil ich ja die Entw\u00e4sserung in die Bilge zugeharzt habe.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Matthias and I arrive in Lelystad at the beginning of July and get the pepperbird<\/em> into the water first. The mast is back in place, the new lights installed, and the radar reflector fitted (although not exactly where I wanted it).<\/p>

The fridge is working fine, and the gas connections were professionally checked in mid-May. Freddy in Attnang built us the extension for the anchor roller, and so we now finally want to fit the new anchor, the anchor windlass and the third cleat on the foredeck. The chain inlet also needs to be relocated for this. The chain locker still needs a new drainage system, because I’ve resin-coated the drainage into the bilge.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Damit wir vorschriftsm\u00e4\u00dfig unterwegs sein k\u00f6nnen, m\u00fcssen auch die neuen Lichter noch angeschlossen werden. Zumindest Ankerlicht und Dampferlicht m\u00fcssen funktionieren, weil wir ja nicht ausschlie\u00dfen k\u00f6nnen, dass wir sie im Notfall brauchen. Insgesamt doch recht viel Arbeit, aber wir haben gutes Wetter und schaffen alles, bevor Hanna und Livia kommen.<\/p>

W\u00e4hrend ich an diesem Beitrag arbeite, realisiere ich, dass alle Videos und die meisten Fotos von unseren Fahrten im Juli 2024 noch auf der mobilen Festplatte des Laptops sind – und die Festplatte ist an Bord! Also kann ich jetzt nur ein paar kurze Schilderungen unterbringen und muss warten, bis mir die n\u00f6tigen Medien wieder zur Verf\u00fcgung stehen…<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The new lights have to be connected as well so that we can sail in accordance with the regulations. At least the anchor light and steaming light have to work, because we can’t rule out the possibility of needing them in an emergency. All in all, quite a lot of work, but we have good weather and manage to get everything done before Hanna and Livia arrive.<\/p>

While I’m working on this post, I realize that all the videos and most of the photos from our trips in July 2024 are still on the laptop’s mobile hard drive – and the hard drive is on board! In der ersten Woche sind wir – wie im letzten April – zu viert mit Hund unterwegs: Matthias, Hanna, Livia, ich und Baloo. Wir fahren zun\u00e4chst nach Lemmer und dann \u00fcber den Prinses-Margriet-Kanal nach Grouw, wo wir Michael und Lisl treffen werden. Bei herrlichem Sommerwetter kommen wir gut voran und wundern uns wieder einmal, wie man zu zweit so lange auf einem Sechsmeterboot leben kann. Wenn wir Michael und Lisl das n\u00e4chste Mal treffen, werden sie schon ein viel gr\u00f6\u00dferes Plattbodenboot besitzen…<\/p>

Von Grouw fahren wir zur\u00fcck ans IJsselmeer, und zwar nach Stavoren, wo wir nur eine Nacht bleiben, bevor wir Hindeloopen anlaufen. Bisher haben wir nur in Marinas \u00fcbernachtet, die wir aufgrund unseres Dauer-Liegeplatzes in Lelystad gratis nutzen k\u00f6nnen. In Hindeloopen borgen wir uns Fahrr\u00e4der aus und machen einen ausgedehnten Ausflug nach Sneek.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In the first week, just like last April, four of us will be travelling with our dog: Matthias, Hanna, Livia, me and Baloo. We first travelled to Lemmer and then via the Prinses-Margriet Canal to Grouw, where we met up with Michael and Lisl. We make good progress in glorious summer weather and wonder once again how the two of us can live on a six-metre boat for so long. The next time we meet Michael and Lisl, they will already have a much bigger flat-bottomed boat…<\/p>

From Grouw we head back to the IJsselmeer, specifically to Stavoren, where we only stay one night before calling at Hindeloopen. So far we have only stayed overnight in marinas, which we can use free of charge due to our permanent berth in Lelystad. In Lelystad ist Crewwechsel: Matthias reist ab, Werner kommt an Bord. Ein paar Tage sind wir noch zu viert, dann muss Livia wieder nach Wien zur Arbeit und Hanna begleitet sie, damit sie nicht allein im Auto sitzt. Nach einem neuerlichen Ausflug nach Lemmer und zur\u00fcck machen Werner und ich auch noch einmal die Runde \u00fcber Stavoren und Lemmer nach Urk, wo wir eine letzte Nacht verbringen, bevor wir in die Flevo Marina zur\u00fcckkehren und schlie\u00dflich zusammen nach Wien zur\u00fcckfliegen.<\/p>

Wir haben noch ein paar sch\u00f6ne Segeltage zusammen und ich lerne von Werner noch ein paar Tricks, wie man den einen oder anderen Zehntel-Knoten aus dem Boot herausholen kann.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

There’s a crew change in Lelystad: Matthias is leaving and Werner is coming on board. There are still four of us for a few days, then Livia has to go back to work in Vienna and Hanna accompanies her so she’s not alone in the car. After another trip to Lemmer and back, Werner and I make another round trip via Stavoren and Lemmer to Urk, where we spend one last night before returning to the Flevo Marina and finally flying back to Vienna together.<\/p>
