Ein wichtiger Schritt auf dem Weg nach Griechenland wurde letzte Woche gegangen: Die pepperbird ist per Tieflader nach Koper in Slowenien gereist. Dort ist sie inzwischen wieder zu Wasser gelassen, der Mast ist gestellt und sogar die Solarpaneele sind wieder montiert und laden unsere Hausbatterie. N\u00e4chsten Samstag beginnen wir damit, sie endg\u00fcltig seeklar zu machen.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

An important step on the way to Greece was taken last week: The pepperbird travelled by low-loader to Koper in Slovenia. She has now been lowered back into the water, the mast has been raised, and even the solar panels have been reinstalled and are charging our house battery. Es waren die R\u00f6mer, die das gesamte Mittelmeer „Mare Nostrum“ nannten – „Unser Meer“, aber auch wir \u00d6sterreicher k\u00f6nnen von der Adria sagen, dass es „unser“ Meer sei, nicht nur war die obere Adria lange Zeit Teil der Habsburger Monarchie – mit dem Haupthafen in Triest – sondern es ist heute der n\u00e4chste Zugang zum Meer, von allen Teilen \u00d6sterreichs aus. Viele \u00d6sterreicher haben ihre Boote in Kroatien liegen und manche auch in den wenigen Marinas von Slowenien.<\/p>

Dieses kleine, waldreiche Land hat eine nur 34 km K\u00fcstenlinie und sein Zugang zu internationalen Gew\u00e4ssern wird trotz eines anderslautenden Schiedsspruches der EU von Kroatien nach wie vor abgelehnt. Koper ist jedoch von Lelystad aus gesehen, der n\u00e4chste Hafen am Mittelmeer, zu dem sich der Transfer einer Yacht tats\u00e4chlich lohnt. Nachdem unser dritter Mann in der Crew ausgefallen war, haben wir uns bekanntlich entschieden, diesen Weg ans Mittelmeer zu w\u00e4hlen, an die obere Adria, ans „Mare Nostrum“.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

It was the Romans who called the entire Mediterranean \u2018Mare Nostrum\u2019 – \u2018Our Sea\u2019, but we Austrians can also say of the Adriatic that it is \u2018our\u2019 sea, not only was the upper Adriatic part of the Habsburg monarchy for a long time – with the main harbour in Trieste – but today it is the closest access to the sea from all parts of Austria. Many Austrians have their boats moored in Croatia and some also in the few marinas in Slovenia.<\/p>

This small, densely wooded country has only 34 kilometres of coastline and its access to international waters is still refused by Croatia, despite an EU arbitration ruling to the contrary. From Lelystad, however, Koper is the nearest harbour on the Mediterranean to which it is actually worth transferring a yacht. After our third crew member was unable to join us, we decided to take this route to the Mediterranean, to the northern Adriatic, to the \u2018Mare Nostrum\u2019.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
