Ersatzprogramm
Die Schwierigkeiten mit den Versicherungen halten an. Die Haftpflichtversicherung verweigert die Zahlung, weil Gustav jede Verantwortung für den Leinenbruch abstreitet. Also bleibt alles an unserer Kaskoversicherung hängen, die es nicht eilig hat. Das Segeln ist für dieses Frühjahr vorbei, also genießen wir die frische Luft und die grüne, blühende Landschaft.

The problems with the insurance companies are continuing. The third-party liability insurer is refusing to pay because Gustav denies any responsibility for the broken lines. So it’s all down to our comprehensive insurance, which isn’t in any hurry. Sailing is finished for this spring, so we’re making the most of the fresh air and the green, blossoming countryside.

It’s raining much more than in recent years
Viel möchte ich zum Thema Reparaturen hier gar nicht sagen. Nach vielen Recherchen und Beratungen mit unseren Freunden aus der Gegend wird klar, dass wir hier kaum einen Kostenvoranschlag bekommen werden und ohne dem wird uns die Versicherung keine Reparaturfreigabe geben. Eine Firma in Attika macht uns dann endlich eine Kostenschätzung, die wir an die Versicherung weiterleiten. Seither warten wir …
Damit der Schaden nicht noch größer wird, schneide ich die verbogenen Schrauben der Scheuerleiste ganz ab und dichte die Löcher provisorisch mit Epoxid-Kitt ab. Mit der Firma Moraitis vereinbaren wir, dass wir zuerst die Entscheidung der Versicherung abwarten, und dann einen Ablauf für den Herbst festlegen. Im Hafen von Lavrion können wir einen Landliegeplatz bekommen, wo die Arbeiten dann über den Winter durchgeführt werden können.
Im Mai kommt Livia noch auf ein paar Tage auf Besuch, für die wir ein Apartment im Hotel buchen. Die restliche Zeit leben wir am Boot, mieten ein Auto und machen Ausflüge.
Wir sind von der Farbenpracht und der Üppigkeit der Vegetation derart fasziniert, dass wir beschließen einen Bildband mit Blumen- und Tieraufnahmen zu machen, wenn wir wieder daheim sind.

I don’t really want to say much about repairs here. After a lot of research and discussions with our friends in the area, it’s become clear that we’re unlikely to get a quote here, and without one, the insurance company won’t approve the repairs. A company in Attica (Rigas Moraitis) finally provides us with a cost estimate, which we forward to the insurance company. We’ve been waiting ever since…
To prevent the damage from getting any worse, I cut off the bent screws on the rubbing strake completely and seal the holes provisionally with epoxy putty. We agree with Moraitis that we will first wait for the insurance company’s decision and then set a schedule for the autumn. In the harbour of Lavrion, we will be able to secure a shore berth where the work can then be carried out over the winter.
In May, Livia comes to visit for a few days, for which we book an apartment in a hotel. The rest of the time we live on the boat, hire a car and go on excursions.
We’re so captivated by the vibrant colours and lush vegetation that we decide to put together a photo book featuring pictures of flowers and animals once we return home.
