Werner, unser dritter Mann für die Überstellung auf die Kanarischen Inseln, muss sich im Frühjahr einer Hüftoperation unterziehen und wird bis mindestens Ende Juni nicht als Crewmitglied zur Verfügung stehen.

Werner, our third man for the transfer to the Canary Islands, has to undergo a hip operation in the spring and will not be available as a crew member until at least the end of June.

New lustre for the old tiller
Wir wollen jetzt nicht wieder auf die Suche nach einer Crew gehen und zu zweit trauen wir uns die Reise (noch) nicht zu. Daher haben wir beschlossen, die pepperbird auf dem Landweg nach Slowenien zu bringen und von dort gleich nach Griechenland zu segeln.
Bevor aber unser Bötchen auf den Tieflader gepackt wird, haben wir noch einige „Kleinigkeiten“ zu erledigen. Wegen der Krise rund um meine Mutter im letzten Herbst konnte ich das vorgesehene Programm nicht komplett erledigen. Außerdem ist die Solaranlage elektrisch noch nicht angeschlossen. Das ist eine etwas komplexere Angelegenheit, für die auch diesmal wieder Matthias als Experte und Helfer mit von der Partie sein wird.
Wir hoffen aber, dass wir vor der Abreise aus Lelystad auch noch ein paar Meilen auf dem IJsselmeer segeln können.
We don’t want to go looking for a crew again now, and we don’t (yet) have the confidence to make the trip with just the two of us. We have therefore decided to take the pepperbird overland to Slovenia and sail straight to Greece from there.
Before our little boat is packed onto the low loader, we still have a few ‘little things’ to do. Due to the crisis surrounding my mother last autumn, I wasn’t able to complete the planned programme in full. In addition, the solar system is not yet electrically connected. This is a somewhat more complex matter, for which Matthias will once again be on board as an expert and helper.
But we hope that we will be able to sail a few miles on the IJsselmeer before we leave Lelystad.

Das ist unser Arbeitsprogramm für nächstes Frühjahr:
- Antifouling anbringen
- Rumpf reinigen und polieren
- „Elektrobrett“ ausbauen, neu bestücken (Ladewandler/-Controller) und wieder einbauen
- Drei Kabel nach hinten und durch das Deck verlegen (Solar, Cockpit-Licht, Navtex-Antenne)
- Neuen Hauptschalter einbauen und anschließen
- LiFePo4-Batterie zusammen- und einbauen (zusammen mit Blei-Batterie fixieren)
- Solarpaneele anschließen
- Kabel vom alten Schaltpaneel zu den neuen Schalter verlegen
- Gasalarm anschließen
- Box für Überlängen der Mastlabel bauen und Kabel verstauen
- Kabel im WC verlegen und Deckenpaneel sowie seitliche Abdeckleisten anbringen
- Kühlschrank isolieren
- Drehzahlmesser austauschen
- Holzarbeiten fertig machen: Haken für Festmacher in der Backskiste, Wasserkanister, Fachabtrennungen, „Funkbrett“, Tablet-Halterung, Fensterrahmen…
- Platte am Deckenpaneel für Brennenstuhl-Lampe
- Möglichkeiten für Fäkalientank abklären (Dummy)
- Spannungen des stehenden Gutes messen
- Pinne einbauen und bestücken
- Leinenklemmen warten
- Dinghi an Deck befestigen
Gar nicht so wenig!
Viel ist im letzten Jahr schon geschehen…
This is our work programme for next spring:
- Apply antifouling
- Clean and polish the hull
- Remove the ‘electrical board’, re-equip it (charging converter/controller) and reinstall it
- Route three cables aft and through the deck (solar, cockpit light, Navtex antenna)
- Install and connect new main switch
- Assemble and install LiFePo4 battery (fix together with lead battery)
- Connect solar panels
- Route the cable from the old switch panel to the new switch
- Connect the gas alarm
- Build a box for excess lengths of mast labels and stow cables
- Lay cables in the WC and fit ceiling panel and side cover strips
- Insulate the refrigerator
- Replace the rev counter
- Finish the woodwork: Hooks for mooring lines in the forecastle box, Water canister, compartment partitions, ‘radio board’, tablet holder, aft berth window frame…
- Plate on the ceiling panel for „Brennenstuhl“ lamp
- Clarify options for holding tank (dummy)
- Measure the tension of the standing goods
- Install and fit tiller
- Maintain line clamps
- Attach tender to deck
Not so little at all!
A lot has already been done in the last year…
Ein paar größere Vorhaben befinden sich bereits wieder in der „Pipeline“:
- Früher oder später werden wir wohl einen Fäkalien-Tank einbauen müssen. Die Planungen dafür haben bereits begonnen.
- Damit wir in den griechischen Häfen und Marinas auch mit dem Bug zum Steg anlegen können, überlegen wir eine Passerella seitlich am Vorschiff zu montieren, damit wir gefahrlos nach vorne aussteigen können.
- Der Decksanstrich ist an vielen Stellen schon sehr dünn und durchsichtig geworden. Um in der mediterranen Sonne weniger Hitze zu absorbieren, wollen wir das Deck in einem sehr hellen grau streichen. Aber das machen wir sicher erst, wenn wir schon in Griechenland sind.
A few larger projects are already in the „pipeline“ again:
- Sooner or later, we will probably have to install a holding tank. The planning for this has already begun.
- So that we can moor in Greek harbours and marinas with the bow facing the jetty, we are considering installing a passerelle on the side of the foredeck so that we can safely get out forwards.
- The deck paint has already become very thin and transparent in many places. To absorb less heat in the Mediterranean sun, we want to paint the deck a very light grey. But we won’t do that until we’re in Greece.
